Grape variety(ies): Durize - vieux cépage presque abandonné, la Durize subsiste encore dans la région de Fully (environ 7000 m2). Elle est issue du croisement entre le Roussin (lui-même fils du Cornalin du Valais, appelé aussi Rouge du Pays) et un cépage inconnu (aujourd’hui sans doute disparu) et fait partie de la famille des Oriou. Elle a donc des affinités avec de nombreux cépages valdôtains dont l’Humagne Rouge.
Alcohol degree: 12%

Cherry colour, slightly purplish. First nose of moss, stone and pepper. Then citrus fruit, iris bulb and finally red and black berries. The palate is stylish, slender and airy. The body is full-bodied yet light, and the finish combines tannins that are not too tight but still present with a fresh, fruity aroma and hints of green peel.

This Durize comes from a parcel in the hills above Fully in the direction of Branson. The soil is crystalline with a fair amount of gneiss. The vines are quite old and are the result of sugaring an old parcel of Chasselas several years ago.
