Barolo Dagromis, Gaja - 2020

  • Provenance: Piedmont
  • Appellation: Barolo
  • Domain: Gaja
  • Grape variety(ies): Nebbiolo
  • On-call time: 15 years
  • Alcohol degree: 14%
A complete Barolo, since it comes from vines located at the two geographical extremes of the vineyard (La Morra and Serralunga), Dagromis develops an intense perfume of wild berries enhanced by exquisite floral notes. On the palate, it reveals a structure that is both vinous and velvety, with great elegance. Although it can be enjoyed young, it always benefits from being aged for 4-5 years to gain in expression.

Viticulture

Vineyards owned by the Gaja family. The vineyards are located in the municipalities of La Morra and Serralunga d'Alba. The soils of both vineyards are composed of marl and limestone. La Morra produces elegant wines with silky tannins and floral notes (high sand content and soft earth). Serralunga d'Alba, on the other hand, is characterised by a compact clay soil and a higher altitude than La Morra (firmer, full-bodied wines).

Oenology

Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel vats for 3 weeks, at controlled temperature. Aged in oak barrels for 12 months, then 12 months in large traditional tuns.

Suggestions for accompaniment

Roast duck - Saddle of chamois - White truffle risotto.

Producer of Barolo and of Barbaresco.
