Located on the right bank of the Garonne, Loupiac lies on well-exposed clay-limestone hillsides, which promote even ripening of the grapes. The river plays an essential role: its temperate waters generate the morning mists necessary for the development of Botrytis cinerea, or noble rot. This phenomenon concentrates the sugars and aromas, giving rise to balanced and luminous sweet wines.

Grape varieties and style of sweet wines

Sémillon dominates the appellation, accompanied by Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. Together, these grape varieties produce wines with aromas of honey, apricot, candied fruit and white flowers. Their texture is round and velvety, supported by a natural freshness that prevents any heaviness. Loupiac thus offers accessible, harmonious sweet wines with great aromatic finesse.
