2017 is a vintage of anthology for sweet wines. Semillon, the king of sweet wines, benefited from exceptional weather conditions that favoured concentration and aromatic richness. The result is a wine with a sparkling, brilliant colour that catches the light like the most precious jewels. The appearance is fat and unctuous. One is almost dazed before such a beautiful and pure perfume, difficult to describe because it is imbued with a unique grace. There are also fragrances of acacia honey, sugared almonds, lemon skin and citron, with a touching finesse that indicates an extraordinary botrytis. The magic of the noble rot is apparent from the moment it enters the mouth, with that airy, unique feel, as if the wine were moving on a cushion of air. The liquor is fantastic, the wine is still in limbo and its magical concentration will allow it to succeed in the legend of the best vintages of the Château signed since the 40s. It is exceptional, with an ageing potential that is just as exceptional!

Viticulture

The soil consists of a large gravelly hillock on the surface, followed by a clayey-gravelly soil, before reaching the limestone bedrock at greater depth. The wine is made from a selection of hundred-year-old vines. Hand-picked with a tight selection on the vine: strict selection of grapes affected by more than 90% noble rot.

Oenology

Pressing in the old fashioned way on a wooden press dating from 1903. Alcoholic fermentation in high quality French oak barrels, then aged for 18 months. Bottled with light filtration.

Suggestions for accompaniment

To be drunk on its own, with blue cheese (Roquefort, Stilton), or with an orange and chocolate tart.
