Cavesa le CAVE, le club des amateurs de vins exquis

Collioure rouge, L'Arguelague, Dom. de la Rectorie - 2018

With this Collioure, La Rectorie is bringing back to life the long traditional ageing process in casks. On the nose, aromas of prune and black fruit such as blackcurrant and blackberry mingle with hints of smoke, pepper and liquorice. Full and elegant on the palate, with superbly aged, silky tannins. A wine for immediate enjoyment, best served in tall glasses at 15-16°C to get the most out of it!

Viticulture

The Argelague vines were planted by Philippe Albert. With this cuvée, made from grapes matured for a long time in casks, the estate pays tribute to the passion with which it cultivates its vines in the Vallée des Abeilles, one of the finest terroirs in the Collioure area.

Oenology

Maceration for 20 days, followed by various pigéages and pumping over. Aged for five years in tuns only.

Suggestions for accompaniment

Celery confit and anchovies • Quail vinaigrette with lentils • Chinese fondue.

Domain
Beyond being one of the oldest CAVE selections, the Rectorie is a myth. A myth of Roussillon. A myth of the great southern wine. A myth of Collioure and Banyuls. Every drop of wine produced here is worth its weight in gold. Not in its extraordinary proportions, but rather in the accuracy and profound Banyuls character of its aesthetics. The dry whites are infinitely marine and saline. The rosés, vinous and Mediterranean. The reds are deep and earthy. The dry rancios, like photographs of the landscape, tawny and mineral. And the Banyuls exude schist, sun, the warm orange light, so dear to the great painters of the Vermeille coast.
