Viticulture
Long before the current AOCs, Chambertin and Clos de Bèze were already the head of Gevrey's vintages. It is important to know that in 1219, when these parcels were sold by the abbey of Bèze, these two climates were mixed up. The name Chambertin probably comes from the field belonging to a certain Bertin. More recently, the vineyard could still be seen facing north-south, but this has not been the case since 1976.
Oenology
Etienne Damoy still calls this parcel "le travers". The estate's parcel is located in the extreme north-west of the appellation, the characteristics of the soil and the grapes produced are very similar to those of the adjoining parcel in Clos-de-Bèze, and the planting took place at the same time (1976), with the same selection.
