Pinot Noir RhEIN, Weingut Adank - 2020

  • Provenance: Grisons
  • Appellation: Fläsch
  • Domain: Adank
  • Grape variety(ies): Pinot Noir
  • On-call time: 12 years
  • Alcohol degree: 13.5%
The result of a partnership between 4 of Graubünden's leading estates, this great Pinot has a dark, intense colour, which precedes a deep, complex nose, with hints of blackberry and black berries and subtle toasty aromas. On the palate, it is striking for its juiciness, vinosity and length, which are the hallmarks of the region's great wines. A great wine of terroir and patience, an ode to its region of origin.

Viticulture

PINOT RhEIN is an association of 4 wineries from 4 wine-growing communities in Graubünden, made up of Hansruedi Adank, Hanspeter Lampert, Ueli and Jürg Liesch and Marco Casanova. Bündner Herrschaftr and Churer Rheintal are located in an open north-south valley. The vines are protected from westerly winds and breezes, and benefit from the Föhn as well as cool nights. They grow mainly on gravel cones, sands and sandstone limestone slates. The deep geological formations are covered with a thin layer of humus.

Oenology

The winegrower friends behind this project set themselves strict rules: the yield is only 3.5 dl per square metre, in line with the best Burgundy wines; the blend is matured for 12 months in one- or two-year-old rooms; the final wine contains a moderate dose of sulphur.

Suggestions for accompaniment

Veal quasi - Beef tartare - Roast guinea fowl with lime - Woodland risotto.

Domain
The young Patrick Adank presides over the destiny of this reference estate in Graubünden. He continues the organic path initiated by his father, Hans-Ruedi, and is inspired by Burgundy and other great vineyards to produce ever more authentic and racy wines.
