Gamay, Prés-des-Pierres, Simon Maye et Fils - 2022

To date and to our knowledge, this is the best vintage of this pure Gamay that was made in 2011, from the best and oldest vines of the estate, located on magnificent parcels. The wine is impressive and confusing to the eye, as one might think of a beautiful pinot noir or even a syrah! Notes of pepper, black fruits and citrus fruits, which precede a suave and ripe body, of sensational greed, but it will age excellently!

Viticulture

On the alluvial cone of Chamoson made up of sand and gravel of varying degrees of clay, often silty, in a place called "Prés-des-Pierres". Old Gamay vines with low yields. Vines over 50 years old. The estate is undergoing organic conversion (biosuisse).

Oenology

Harvested around 95° Oe, hand picked. Destemmed harvest, maceration for about 15 days. Traditional maturation in concrete vats for 12 months.
