Loire Valley, varied soils and temperate climate

Located in the heart of the Loire Valley, Touraine enjoys a temperate climate where oceanic influences blend with a more continental climate further inland. The soils are very varied, alternating between tuffeau, clay, sand and gravel. This geological mosaic allows for a wide variety of styles, from crisp whites to supple reds and delicate rosés. The bright and breezy terroir promotes regular ripening while preserving the freshness of the wines.

Multiple grape varieties and wine styles

Touraine is distinguished by its plurality of grape varieties. Sauvignon Blanc produces lively, aromatic whites, while Chenin is more structured and mineral. As for reds, Gamay produces fruity, light wines, Côt (Malbec) brings depth, and Cabernet Franc offers finesse and sweet spices. This diversity allows for a wide range of profiles, all marked by the balance and freshness of the Loire.

Aromatic profiles & typical characteristics

The whites are characterised by aromas of citrus, flowers and white fruits, with a lively tension. The reds have notes of fresh red fruits, spices and sometimes a touch of noble vegetal notes depending on the grape variety. On the palate, the structure generally remains supple, supported by moderate but dynamic acidity. Rosés, on the other hand, are light and delicious.

Vintages, ageing and food pairings

Cool vintages enhance the liveliness and aromatic precision, while warmer years produce rounder, more generous wines. Ageing potential varies: two to four years for the lightest cuvées, up to seven years for certain Chenins or structured reds. At the table, Touraine wines pair easily with fish, poultry, charcuterie, salads or vegetarian dishes. Their versatility and freshness make them ideal companions for a wide variety of dishes
