Pic Saint-Loup, Cynarah, Château de Cazeneuve - 2022

The first cuvée in the estate’s range, Cynarah is made from Cinsault (old vines), Grenache and Syrah (hence its name), vinified in short vatting and aged in vats to bring out the fruit. It is a very aromatic wine (violet, pepper), rich and smooth. A model of accessible Pic Saint-Loup, best served at 15-16°C.

Viticulture

A red wine made from vines grown according to organic farming principles on clay-limestone soil.

Oenology

The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented using indigenous yeasts. Fermentation and ageing take place in stainless steel vats.

Suggestions for accompaniment

Sliced wild boar with pepper sauce • Pheasant supreme with braised cabbage.

Domain
The Château de Cazeneuve, a 9th century building, is located in the village of Lauret. It is the heart of the estate bought by André Leenhardt in 1987, after his agronomy studies. A major figure in the region and in the appellation, he helped to take the estate out of the cooperative, to replant its vineyard and to convert it to organic farming with certification in 2010.
