The spring was relatively long, cool and wet, followed by a dry and moderate summer, which allowed the grapes to ripen longer. This also contributed to the ripening of very fine, fine tannins and to the production of complex, aromatic wines. In the end, the year can be described as late, but it produced fresh and concentrated wines, with a classicism that is the hallmark of great vintages for laying down in the Midi.
