The vineyards are located in the commune of Randazzo, at an altitude of 650 m. They were planted in 1870! This great terroir of volcanic ash, pumice and rocks expelled from the volcano gives an extraordinary wine: notes of oranges, musk, spices, tar, iris, cherries in brandy, coffee. Incredible quality on the palate, combining great finesse with a firmness in the structure and a race in the flavour that is difficult to surpass. A great wine!

Technique

Viticulture

Vines located in the municipality of Randazzo, in the Contrada Calderara. Planted in 1870! Terroir of volcanic ash, pumice and pieces of rock expelled from the volcano. The vineyard is clinging to the north face of Mount Etna, at an altitude of 650 metres.

Oenology

Aged for 18 months in oak barrels (25% new wood). Malolactic fermentation is done in barrel. Unfiltered.

Suggestions for accompaniment

Hare à la royale • Slow-cooked veal shank • Saffron risotto with wild mushrooms.

Tenuta delle Terre Nere

Created in the early 2000s by the charismatic Marco De Grazia, Tenuta delle Terre Nere is located on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, in the most renowned area. The property consists of 34 hectares divided into 24 plots. Due to the volcanic origin, the soils differ greatly from one vineyard to another and also within each one, which increases the complexity of the wines as much as their personality.
