The nose seduces with its burst of wild berries, notes of violet and spicy hints of black pepper. On the palate, the texture is supple and caressing, supported by fine, perfectly integrated tannins. A first vintage full of balance and precision, heralding a promising future for Pauline Dorin, who recently set up her own estate in the Côte Chalonnaise, her region of origin.

Viticulture

The first personal vintage from Pauline Dorin, who is the vineyard manager at Domaine Mettaz in Fully and wife of Tristan from Domaine Chappaz, ‘Contemplation’ perfectly illustrates the sensitivity and rigour of this young winemaker. Made from a coplantation of Syrah (60%) and Humagne Rouge (40%), it comes from a granite terroir on a 40% slope in the commune of Martigny.

Oenology

The grapes were harvested by hand on 16 September 2022. Fermentation, carried out with indigenous yeasts, took place without fining or filtration. The wine was aged for 14 months in barrels that had previously contained wine, a quarter of which were in demijohns. Pigeage was carried out by foot, supplemented by a few pump-overs, and a small amount of sulfur was applied at bottling.
