"The 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Vieilles Vignes looks as if it will be a worthy successor to the awesome 2015 and 2016 bottlings. From tank, the Grenache shows lovely cherry-berry fruit, ample weight and richness and a long, silky finish, while the Mourvèdre from a new oak barrel stood up to the wood well, offering more red fruit, less alcohol and hints of toast and baking spices." Wine Advocate: 96-98/100; Jeb Dunnuck 95-97/100

This cuvée is made from four parcels located on different terroirs that complement each other in the blend (a "southern" terroir composed of rolled pebbles that brings fatness and power; a terroir located on the same site as Chaupin for freshness and acidity; a terroir of red clay covered with rolled pebbles but very late in the season because it is located in the north of the appellation, which brings structure and body; and finally a sandy-limestone hillside that provides finesse). Surface area: 6 ha. The vines are cultivated without pesticides or insecticides and the manure is of natural origin. The soil is worked without weedkillers to maintain the aeration and flexibility of the soil. Yield of 28 hl/ha.

80% de-stemming. Maceration for 28 days with daily manual punching down. Matured 75% in tuns and 25% in demi-muids (600 litres).
