Far from the media frenzy, Marchand-Grillot stands out as one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s best-kept secrets: a historic estate whose consistent quality commands admiration. Founded in 1950 through the union of two families deeply rooted in the Burgundian vineyards, the estate is located in Gevrey-Chambertin and today carries on the legacy of seven generations of winemakers.

Now at the helm, Marion and Étienne Marchand embody this new, clear-eyed, and committed Burgundy. The same absolute respect for Pinot Noir, the same visceral attachment to the climats… but with a greater emphasis on in-depth work in the vineyard. No more synthetic herbicides or pesticides, a firm commitment to organic practices, and, since 2020, a mass selection derived from a vine planted in 1903 in the Champerrier climat. Here, the future is built upon a living heritage.

The vineyard spans 12 hectares divided into 49 plots across five iconic villages of the Côte de Nuits: Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Gilly-lès-Cîteaux, and Brochon. A mosaic of terroirs that the estate cultivates with precision, seeking not spectacle but authenticity.

In the cellar, all wines are vinified on the estate and then aged for up to 18 months in barrels. The oak accompanies, structures, and refines the wines without ever overpowering them. The style is clean, straightforward, and elegant. These are wines meant for aging, but above all, wines that reflect their terroir.

Ruchottes-Chambertin (Grand Cru), Petite Chapelle and La Perrière (Premier Cru), not to mention the village wines of Gevrey, Morey, and Chambolle… each vintage reveals a different nuance of Pinot Noir from its native terroirs.
