Since the first vintage, 1990, Barolo Le Vigne has been produced in the purest local tradition, from a blend of (great) terroirs that has evolved over time. From 1990 to 1993, it included the Conterni and Vignane crus. From 1994 to 1997, the Merli cru was added. From 1998 to 2009, the Cerretta grand cru (on Serralunga) is added. From 2010, cru Baudana (on Serralunga) replaces cru Cerretta. And finally, from 2011, the Villero grand cru (on Castiglione falletto) replaces the Conterni grand cru.
Oenology
Each batch is vinified separately. After de-stemming and light crushing, maceration begins. Alcoholic fermentation begins around 24 to 36 hours later, using indigenous yeasts. Maceration takes place in open stainless steel tanks for the first few days of alcoholic fermentation. Overall, fermentation lasts 20 to 30 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place immediately after alcoholic fermentation in 500 l French oak demi-muids (25% new). Aged for 24 months in the same barrels, then 18 months in bottle.

Five years later, this wine was consecrated and entered the empyrean of mythical vintages with a 100/100 from Robert Parker. It then became a cult wine and enjoyed uninterrupted worldwide success. The only change in recent years is that it has been renamed Aleste since the 2013 vintage, thus merging the first names of Barbara's two children and therefore Luciano's grandchildren, ALEssia and STEfano.Back in 1990, he released the first vintage of his Barolo Le Vigne. The latter is not another vintage, but refers to the local tradition of blending different terroirs to produce the best possible wine. It will take some time to establish this wine in terms of image, especially as the first four vintages were sold only in the USA. So it only started to be known here in 1995. In the last few vintages, it has become the new spearhead of the estate, joining the pantheon of the appellation and benefiting from the entry into the blend of major crus: Cerretta and...
