The first impression on the nose is of wild berries (raspberry, blackberry) and the wine delivers an irresistible character, with finesse and elegance. The tannins are supple and silky, and after a few minutes in the glass, the wine reveals lovely aromas of damp earth and black truffle.

Viticulture

This is our big discovery at Vinitaly 2024 ! The Carlo Giacosa estate was founded several decades ago and has remained a family business ever since. Carlo Giacosa, the founder, established a tradition of high-quality winemaking that has been handed down from generation to generation. Today, his daughter Maria Grazia runs the estate alongside her son Luca. The Giacosa family favours an artisanal approach, with minimal intervention in the winemaking process to allow the terroir to express itself fully.

Oenology

Compact soil with a predominance of limestone and clay. South-west exposure. Single Guyot pruning. In the cellar, after crushing and destemming the grapes, the must is fermented in contact with the skins in temperature-controlled steel vats. After racking and partial clarification, the wine is matured in large oak barrels.

Lamb tajine with prunes - Aubergine moussaka - Old Pécorino cheese.
