Liquid geography
Here's a wonderful discovery from Zürich and the Rhine Falls, biodynamic since 2004. Cédric Besson and his wife take their approach very seriously, producing wines of rare honesty, precision and intensity. They were one of our favourites at La Dive this year, and we had to go all the way to the Loire (sic!) to discover them! The whites are sharp, juicy and refreshing: the müller-thurgau is fruity, the raüschling lively, while the Fumé deserves its name and is destined for the table. In reds, zweigelt shows that this grape variety is also capable of finesse and simplicity, and will reveal itself with a carafe or, better still, with ageing. Finally, the pinot noirs have nothing to envy the best vintages from Neuchâtel and Graubünden.
