Jura

Jura

Located in the Revermont (Franche-Comté and Jura departments), the Jura vineyard did not benefit until recently, except for its Vin Jaune and Château-Chalon, from the fame it deserves. Its small size (just over 2000 ha) was the main reason for this. The arrival thirty years ago of a new generation and the installation of new winegrowers have, like what happened in other "peripheral" vineyards, made the jewel visible. The wines produced here stand out, at their best, for their style, their originality of expression and their impeccable price/pleasure ratio.

Whether it's the whites, made from Savagnin (known in Valais as Heida or Païen) or Chardonnay, or the reds, whose indigenous grapes (Poulsard and Trousseau) easily compete with Pinot Noir to exalt the Jura terroir (limestone mixed with different kinds of marl). Not forgetting, of course, the flagships, Vin Jaune and Château-Chalon, initiatory vintages that are as tame as they are deserved and that allow the demanding and patient wine lover to penetrate a world of fascinating gustatory arcana.
