Roussette de Savoie, Louis Magnin - 2018

The Magnins combine all the talents of wine, or almost. If they are known for their mondeuse or bergeron, their roussette is not to be outdone and is one of the most beautiful in the region. Born on a scree slope of clay and limestone, this wine has a nose of truffle, pineapple and raspberry. The mouth, rich but fresh, lingers on explosive fragrances of rhubarb!

The estate, a family business par excellence, covers 8 hectares mainly located in Arbin, in the Combe de Savoie valley, near the town of Montmélian. The Magnins have been certified organic since 2012, but have been using biodynamic viticulture since 2010. Adjacent to the Bauges massif, on the slopes of Arbin-Montmélian, they claim mondeuse in the Arbin cru, but also produce bergeron, thus roussanne, on the Chignin cru; Roussette de Savoie (or altesse) and jacquère. A wide variety of soils and a south/south-east exposure contribute to the ripening of the grapes, which then express the strength of their great...
