Viticulture

The Michelot family, who originally worked as coopers in Meursault, turned to viticulture in the 19th century. Fifth-generation winemaker Bernard Michelot (born 1926) played a pivotal role in strengthening the reputation of the family winery. Today, the estate is run by Véronique Bonin and her husband Nicolas Bernard, representing the seventh generation; all 9 hectares of the estate are cultivated biodynamically. La Rencontre is a cuvée from a blend of old vines from distinguished lieux-dits, Les Pelles and Sous La Velle. Clay and limestone soils with a southeastern/eastern aspect. Yields are limited to promote the expression of terroir (30–32 hectoliters).

Oenology

The winery’s focus is on showcasing both the terroir and the vintage. Therefore, winemaking involves minimal intervention, and the wine ages for one and a half years in barrels (only 10% new oak).
