Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle 1er Cru, Marchand-Grillot - 2022

Beautiful sparkling ruby colour, cherry notes always well marked, then come the nuances of liquorice. More in texture than in structure, it is a generous wine that knows how to resist time. This wine never has hard tannins but is delicate, silky and long.

Viticulture

Vineyard planted in 1978, there is a lot of gravel in this climate, naturally well drained, installed in the east.

Oenology

Pigeage and remontage follow each other according to the vintage with a relatively long vatting period, on average 20 days with a maximum temperature of 30°C controlled. In order to find the subtlety and finesse of this terroir, the wood is less sought after. Half of the wine is therefore aged in new barrels from the Bertranges forests and half in 2 year old barrels, for an average of 16 months.

Suggestions for accompaniment

Game birds (partridge, pheasant) - Pigeon in casserole - Saddle of venison.
