Cavesa le CAVE, le club des amateurs de vins exquis

Genève, Roussanne, Domaine d'Esize - Ch. Bosson (magnum) - 2019

Rarely grown in Geneva, the Roussanne grape takes on aromatic accents of great finesse, giving it a nobility that its Savoyard cousins rarely achieve. This is a full and smooth wine, but without any heaviness, which lingers for a long time in a burst of citrus fruits and subtle honey. A revelation signed Bosson!

Oenology

Vinification and maturation in barrels of several wines.

Suggestions for accompaniment

Chicken supreme, lemongrass-ginger sauce, passion fruit - Cod royale with lentils and North African spices - Savoy cheese.

Domain
Christophe Bosson of Terre d'Esize, a man who is already becoming a key figure in the Geneva vineyard. His talents as a sensible and reasonable farmer are well known, but we can now finally taste his talents as a winemaker, as he has been producing his own wines since the 2014 vintage. He produces splendid wines on the magnificent but little known Bardonnex hillside. This south/south-west facing slope, on glacial moraines of the Rhône, is undoubtedly reminiscent of a "small" Hermitage mountain, a Swiss version. A great terroir is being reborn and must be discovered at all costs. The style of the estate is one of density of substance combined with great finesse of tannins for the reds. The ageing, in wood, is magnificently integrated and not detectable. Moreover, Christophe Bosson having learned "on the job" and not having followed any academic oenological training, his wines are devoid of any "good student" side but rather express a great frankness and restraint, in the image of the winemaker himself. Often reserved when opened, they work magnificently with air, in the glass. They are often even better the next day! This is to be underlined for the ageing.
