Back Name of the vineyard region in French-speaking Switzerland that borders Lake Geneva from west of Lausanne to the border of the canton of Geneva. Its 2,037 hectares make it by far the largest wine-growing region in Vaud. Of the 28 appellations d'origine contrôlées (AOCs) in the Vaud wine region, La Côte has twelve: Nyon, Begnins, Coteau de Vincy, Bursinel, Vinzel, Luins, Tartegnin, Mont-sur-Rolle, Féchy, Aubonne, Perroy and Morges. La Côte enjoys enviable exposure and sunshine, producing a majority of highly regarded Chasselas wines, followed by a third of reds and specialities that are developing well. It is a vineyard of many harmonies that is diversifying well.
