Definition: château, vineyard or estate

Furthermore, the term château can only be used under two conditions:
The wine must come exclusively from grapes harvested in vineyards belonging to the château's land;
the entire winemaking process must take place on the château's land.

The terms "domaine" or "clos" are therefore more frequently used for properties producing local wines. However, these names are also found in AOCs.
