Viticulture
Clerc-Milon was long owned by the Vialard and Hedon families, who somewhat neglected this estate in the north-east of the Pauillac appellation, ideally situated between two of the appellation's most prestigious growths, Lafite and Mouton. Over time, the estate gradually fell into oblivion, until the 1970s, when Baron Philippe de Rothschild bought it. The vineyards are planted on the Günzian gravel hilltops of Milon and Mousset.
Oenology
The vines are 40 years old and are planted at 8,450 vines per hectare. Vatting takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and lasts between 15 and 21 days. The wine is then matured in barrels, a third of which are new, for 18 months.
