Oh, what an extraordinary stylistic break! Madame Capbern-Gasqueton has not yet returned from it... See Chroniques impertinentes opposite. Vincent Millet arrived on the property in 2006 and brought some new ideas, more precision in the work and the change was made smoothly. All this with the (pertinent) idea of further optimising the superb terroir of Calon-Ségur! In terms of controlling the ripeness, selection and extractions (softer in this vintage). The colour is deep. Nose of great nobility and finesse of approach. Violet, cocoa, sweet spices, ripe fruit, Havana. The wood is also a little more present than in previous vintages. This gives the wine an extra velvety texture. It develops in a continuous way, without jolts. Finishes with magnificent tannins of elegance and precision. Calon-Ségur has gone for finesse!

Viticulture

Château Calon-Ségur, located at the time in the commune of Saint-Estèphe de Calon, was owned by the d'Albret family, Jean de Lur, Pierre de Marsan and finally Monsieur de Gasq. The property was named Calon after a small boat used in the Middle Ages to transport wood from one bank of the Gironde to the other. The soil is hilly and gravelly. The average age of the vineyard is 40 years.

Oenology

The wine is aged in oak barrels, some of which are new (30 to 50% depending on the vintage) and lasts an average of 24 months.
