Vin de Constance, Klein Constantia (50 cl) - 2019

The first thing that strikes you when you taste this wine is its incredibly bright, luminous and intense gold colour, which awakens your senses and curiosity. The first nose is a cornucopia of citrus (the bergamot is brilliant), dried flowers, beggar's wort, with fine nuances of hydrocarbons, seringat, acacia honey, warm spices. The wine only changes as it warms and airs. The attack is broad, unctuous, enveloping, then the wine develops on a body of impressive vivacity, it is carried by a form of tannicity and bitters that only the great Tokajs possess. The finish of candied lemon and kumquat is irresistible, and is even enhanced by nuances of chestnut honey of great nobility. Beware, this wine is a tour de force, a form of squaring the circle that manages to link extreme components. It will defy time and is certainly one of the greatest vintages ever made! J.
