If you fear the heat and heaviness of Catalan wines, be reassured, because here freshness, digestibility and finesse are the order of the day, with delicious red wines. The Petit Red is a good example of this, with its bright black berry fruit, sweet spices, mint and graphite. It has a real terroir dimension in the mouth, with its salinity and powdery texture. Viticulture

Located in south-east Catalonia, in the DO Terra Alta, near Tarragona, Bodega Altavins Viticultors was founded in 2001 by three wine enthusiasts who decided to grow their own vines. The estate has a Mediterranean climate with continental influences, ideal for producing top-quality wines. With an annual production of 50,000 bottles, the Altavins Viticultors make a point of controlling every stage of production, from the vine to the bottle, to ensure optimum quality.

Oenology

The grapes are harvested by hand and then matured in stainless steel vats. This process preserves the freshness and pure expression of the terroir, guaranteeing a wine of great finesse and complexity.

Altavins Viticultors was founded in 2001 by Joan Arrufí and Jordi Casado, two wine enthusiasts, in the heart of the DO Terra Alta, located in the southwest of Catalonia, 200 kilometres from Barcelona, where the soil is rich in silt and poor in organic matter. The vineyard is located between 350 and 550 metres above sea level. It has a Mediterranean climate with little rainfall (between 350 and 450 mm per year), high light levels and is influenced by two dominant winds, the Cierzo (from the Ebro valley) and the Garbi (from the sea). In addition, the nature of the soil provides the grapes with an exceptionally high concentration of minerals, which is felt in the wines with an effect of salinity and freshness that is rare in Catalonia and welcome at the table, with sunny cuisine.
