Saumur-Champigny, Bavardages, Jeanne Germain - 2022

Created by Jeanne Germain, daughter of Thierry Germain of the Roches Neuves estate, this cuvée Bavardages is a real conversation starter! Partially vinified in whole bunches, with ageing in small containers which allows the wine to "open up" more quickly than the foudre, it delivers immediate pleasure (red fruits and spices), where the crunchiness of the fruit is dominant and jubilant. A Champigny of pleasure!

Jeanne Germain's love of wine and passion for horses has been driving her for a long time. Daughter of Thierry Germain (Domaine des Roches Neuves), it is obviously her father who will give her a start, with a first wine that she will sign in 2019. Since then, with her partner Florent, they have been committed to developing the 1.7 hectares of their vineyards in Saumur-Champigny, with the help of their horses Ben and Comtesse, in a quest for harmony with nature. It has to be said that Jeanne has been passionate about horses since she was a child. After twelve years on the back of an equine, her feet also wanted to tread the ground; she therefore trained in animal traction, a new way of working and feeling the land. An exceptional relationship was born with her two Ardennais. After a first vintage, "La Foulée", released in 2019, Jeanne and Florent expanded their estate and discovered other terroirs. Inspired by the philosophy of biodynamic viticulture and concerned with working the plant in its environment, they produced other cuvées which were released in 2021. It is these wines that we offer you today and that we tasted during the Dive Bouteille, in 2022. It must be said that, beyond the affection we have for the Germain family, we were surprised to taste such dense, precise and deep wines, which do not make "first wines". Congratulations to them and long live their estate!
