Pronounced "Vône-Romanée". Region of the Côte-de-Nuits in Burgundy. Production area located to the north near Nuits-Saint-Georges, more precisely within the communes of Flagey-Echezeaux and Vosne-Romanée, in the Côte-d'Or department. Classified as a communal AOC with 17 premier crus in 1936. Area under production: nearly 150 hectares. The boundary covers a total of 156 hectares, of which 57.5 hectares are classified as premier cru. Grape varieties: grey: Pinot Beurot; black: Pinot Noir and Pinot Liébault. The incorporation of white and grey grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinots into the vineyards is permitted, provided that they do not exceed 15%. Vinified as: red exclusively. It can be kept for a very long time, from 5 to 15 years. Ideal serving temperature: between 13 and 14°C for a young wine; between 14 and 16°C for a slightly older wine. Pair with: wild boar stew, venison medallions, venison terrine, duck with turnips, mushroom fricassee or Bresse cockerel or chicken.
