Back

50,433 is the final number of trade visitors who attended Vinexpo 2007, representing an increase of 3.1% compared to the 2005 edition.

There was also an increase in the number of visitors from outside France, which exceeded 33%, as announced.

Studies on the economic situation of the global wine industry, presented ahead of the show, had already hinted at this. After five days of intense activity, Vinexpo 2007 confirmed it: the excitement was palpable and felt by both exhibitors and visitors alike. "This edition of Vinexpo confirms the vitality of the sector worldwide," reiterated Jean-Marie Chadronnier, the fair's president.

Attendance was up 3.1%.

When it closed its doors, Vinexpo had welcomed 50,433 visitors from the industry, representing 154 countries, an increase of 3.1% compared with the previous edition.

With 33.02% of visitors coming from outside France, the exhibition broke all previous records and ranked among the world's leading trade shows.

The precise visitor count confirms what was announced shortly before the show closed: visitors from the traditional markets of the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands came in the same proportions as in 2005. Northern Europe increased its attendance, with Sweden reaching 428 visitors (+14%).

In total, there were more than 9,400 visitors from the European Union (excluding France).

The much-anticipated Asian visitors increased their attendance significantly, with nearly 2,100 visitors: China's presence increased two and a half times. The number of visitors from Hong Kong and Korea doubled. India and Singapore saw a 50% increase in attendance at the show, while other Asian countries remained stable.

The high concentration of distributors in North America did not deter visitors, whose numbers exceeded 1,600 (two-thirds from the US and one-third from Canada).

Russia and Ukraine, represented by 506 and 112 visitors respectively, showed growing interest in the sector, as did other countries in the region, which also saw an increase in attendance.

Finally, it should be noted that South American visitors were well represented, with a delegation of 114 buyers from Brazil, and that the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) doubled its number of visitors (55) compared to 2005.

Major buyers and the media:

Open to the world's largest buyers, the Vinexpo Club welcomed 1,522 of its members. Despite consolidation within the industry, the Vinexpo Club consolidated its 2005 performance and welcomed a number of new major Asian operators.

1,346 journalists from 53 countries covered the event.

A new layout for the exhibition, which proved popular for its aesthetics and practicality:

The companies present at the Club du Lac were very satisfied with their new facilities. They have already expressed their desire to return in 2009.

The elegant and practical footbridge over the lake was an undeniable success. More than 3,000 people used it every day: "This technical marvel gave Vinexpo a new dimension by integrating the lake and the Palais des Congrès," said Robert Beynat, General Commissioner of Vinexpo.

Marketers: objectives achieved.

With 9,208 professionals visiting and strong satisfaction expressed by exhibitors, this first edition already points to the return of Marketers in 2009 at the Palais des Congrès.

Events always very well attended:

The conferences brought together leading professionals from around the world. The wealth of topics covered strongly attracted exhibitors and visitors who came to meet people from the worlds of finance, sommeliers, packaging, wine tourism, e-business, etc.

The 70 tastings were packed to capacity.

It is therefore in a positive climate that Vinexpo is setting its next dates:

Vinexpo Asia-Pacific in Hong Kong from 27 to 29 May 2008;

The15th edition of Vinexpo in Bordeaux in June 2009.
