Definition: Scheurebe

Back
Along with Kerner, Scheurebe is one of the finest new German grape varieties. Created in 1916 by Georg Scheu, who later gave it its name, this plant is a cross between Riesling and Sylvaner. Only producing quality wines when perfectly ripe, it releases subtle, distinguished aromas reminiscent of blackcurrant. Often vinified as a sweet or dessert wine, it is also available in a "dry" version. Served chilled (around 8°C), it is perfect for aperitifs but also pairs wonderfully with spicy dishes or asparagus.
