Back Sauternes region. Production area located about 40 kilometres south-east of Bordeaux, on the right bank of the Garonne, more precisely within the boundaries of the commune of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont in the Gironde department. Classified as an AOC in 1936. Area under production: nearly 460 hectares. White grape varieties: Muscadelle, Sauvignon and Sémillon. Vinified exclusively as white wine, semi-dry or sweet, harvested manually for overripe grapes and picked in successive stages. It can be kept for several decades. Ideal serving temperature: between 6 and 8°C. Enjoy with a sweet dessert, foie gras, pork loin with apricots, or veal sweetbreads in cream sauce. For dessert, pair with a pithiviers or a fruit savarin.
