Beaujolais region. Production area located about twelve kilometres south-west of Mâcon, more precisely within plots of land in the commune of Saint-Amour-Bellevue in the Saône-et-Loire department. The northernmost of the Beaujolais crus. Classified as an AOC cru in 1946. Area under production: just over 310 hectares. Black grape variety: Gamay. The incorporation of white grape varieties such as Aligoté, Chardonnay, Melon and Pinot is permitted, provided that they do not exceed 15%. Vinified exclusively as red wine. It can be kept for 2 years in general, a little longer depending on the vintage. Ideal serving temperature: between 13 and 14°C, slightly higher for older wines. Pair with: a bean stew, roast poultry, game birds, a Beaujolais stew or soft cheeses.
