Definition: Gattinara

A famous Italian red wine made from the Nebbiolo grape variety, like Barolo and Barbaresco, and also produced in Piedmont, but in a different region, around Lake Maggiore. Comparable to the best Côtes-du-Rhône wines, full-bodied with a very fine bouquet, it has a rich flavour and can be cellared for a very long time. Its production is extremely limited.
