Definition: Fine

Back
A natural brandy made from high-quality wine or cider, with a controlled or regulated designation of origin, such as cognac or calvados. Fine Champagne is a type of cognac made from a blend of two regions that produce high-quality cognacs, Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. When referring to cognac, a fine is a blend of various origins, and a fine maison is a brandy that a restaurant specialises in. It is not necessarily of high quality. The term fine does not apply to whiskies and other brandies of origins other than wine and cider.
