Definition: Estate (grown, produced and bottled)

This is a very specific designation on US wine labels meaning "grown, produced and bottled on the estate". It guarantees that the wine comes from the estate's own harvest, similar to the French concept of "bottled at the château/estate", which is less precise. In the United States, however, the label may only specify "estate produced and bottled" or even "estate bottled", depending on where the grapes come from.
