Definition: Capsule cutter

A tool equipped with a small blade that is rotated around the neck of a bottle to cut the capsule cleanly before uncorking. In wine service, it is recommended to remove the foil entirely so that the wine does not come into contact with old lead-based foils. This technique also allows for thorough cleaning of the neck and better observation of the sediment during decanting.
