Definition: bock, doppelbock

A strong, bottom-fermented beer, generally produced in Bavaria. These beers are recognisable by their fanciful names ending in -ator (e.g. Celebrator). They have a mild to very mild taste, a very pronounced caramel aroma and a brown, almost black colour.
