Anisette remains the most popular drink in the Mediterranean basin. It is found under different names in Italy, Greece, Turkey and Spain. In France, the most famous of all is Anisette de Bordeaux, created in the 18th century by a young lady named Marie Brizard, which includes, in addition to green anise essence, aromas of lemon peel, coriander, cinnamon, etc.
