Côte Rôtie, Terrasses, Jean-Luc Jamet - 2019

  • Provenance: Northern Côtes du Rhône
  • Appellation: Côte-Rôtie
  • Domain: Jean-Luc Jamet
  • Grape variety(ies): Syrah et viognier
  • Alcohol degree: 14%
Blending all the great terroirs of the estate, from a 40% de-stemmed harvest, in the family tradition, this Côte-Rôtie, truly out of the ordinary, has captivated us! It exhales aromas of blueberry, blackberry, spices, incense and graphite. On the palate, we are struck by the purity, intensity and density of the tannins. Its ageing potential is fantastic.

Domain
The famous Domaine Jamet, well known for its great Côte-Rôtie wines, was divided in the early 2010s into two separate properties, each held by one of the brothers. Thus was born Domaine Jean-Luc Jamet, whose 2013 vintage is the "first". This is not a trial run, as Jean-Luc Jamet has been growing vines and making wine since he started in the 1980's. Jean-Luc Jamet practices the most reasoned cultivation possible, adapting to the needs of the plant and the vintage. The vines are grassed every other row. The soil is worked throughout the season, with the application of compost if necessary. The pruning allows us to aim for 40hl/ha with 9000 vines/ha. The aim is to have a large amount of foliage in order to let the grapes ripen to the end but also to protect them. Maturation is long, before the grapes are harvested by hand.
