Viticulture
Suduiraut has been owned by AXA-Millésimes since 1992. The vineyard extends over 92 hectares and represents a synthesis of the clay terroirs typical of Sauternes, known for their opulence, as well as parcels of gravel that are more closely associated with the subsoils of Barsac. At the Suduiraut vineyard, the vines are grown in a sustainable manner, without the use of chemicals or pesticides. Planting density is 7,000 vines/ha. The average age of the vineyard is 25 years.
Oenology
The grapes are picked in successive selections over several weeks. The musts are harvested after slow pneumatic pressing, cold settling and then fermented in batches in oak barrels. Suduiraut is bottled after 18 to 24 months' ageing in 50% new oak barrels. The average yield on the estate is around 10 to 14 hl/ha.
