The best vineyard on the estate is very similar to Mouton: very warm medium gravel, but according to Professor Enjalbert, the richer, marly and calcareous subsoil (St-Estèphe type) explains the slightly less refined bouquet. The latest vintages showcase very elegant nuances of Havana tobacco that are not found in any other Pauillac cru with this intensity and purity.
Oenology
Ageing of Grand Vin: approximately 60% new barrels per year, 40% one-year-old barrels. Time spent in barrels: 15 to 20 months. Fining with egg white.
