At the highest point of the gravelly plateau that forms the heart of the Pomerol appellation, the vineyards of Château Petit-Village form an equilateral triangle of 10.5 hectares. The terroir consists of deep gravel covered with light, sandy clay on a subsoil of iron dross, characteristic of the great wines of Pomerol, on which the vines are planted, an average of 30 years old.
Oenology
The wine is matured in barriques for around 15 months. The proportion of new oak used varies between 60 and 70% depending on the vintage.
Suggestions for accompaniment
Pan-fried sweetbreads, cream of morel mushrooms and root vegetables, roast pigeon with figs.
