Ripe fruit and a sensation of flesh on the nose, with juicy black cherries. Very fine, fleshy, full-bodied palate, driven by just the right amount of ripe fruit, the wine has plenty of centre. Ample, long, great!

Viticulture

Larcis-Ducasse is beautifully situated on the south side of St-Emilion, adjacent to Pavie. The upper part of the vineyard is terraced. The vines have an average age of 35 years. Since the 2002 vintage (inclusive), Nicolas Thienpont's team has been managing the estate, advised by Stéphane Derenoncourt. Like a number of other estates on the Côte Sud, Larcis has a cellar that was ‘avant-garde’ a century ago. Everything here is done by gravity, without pumping.

Oenology

The winemaking process favours gentle extractions, complemented by 18 months of barrel ageing.

Suggestions for accompaniment
