Viticulture
The current buildings of the property were built in 1850, just before Grand-Puy-Lacoste was included in the 1855 historic classification. Located on the highest point of the Pauillac AOC, the 55 ha vineyard lies on the "Grand Puy", a gravelly hillock 6 to 8 metres deep on a thick limestone base. This soil type is synonymous with a great Cabernet terroir. The vines are cultivated in the traditional way, following a reasoned approach.
Oenology
For some time now, the team has been adopting plot-based selections by small batches separated into different vats. The wine undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. Gentle extraction is done by pumping over. Blending is generally undertaken in December before the wine is put into barrels for 40 to 60% new wood. Approximately 5 rackings are carried out over the next 14 to 16 months, before the wine is blended and fined in vats and then bottled.
