The Giba estate was founded in 2013, following the restructuring of the 6Mura winery, to continue the production of high-quality wines initiated in 2002 by Vincenzo Aru, its founder. Located in Giba, in southwestern Sardinia, in the heart of the Sulcis region, the estate is situated just a few meters from the sea. It currently cultivates 20 hectares of vineyards on sandy-clay soils overlooking the sea.
It is within this landscape that the estate’s vines thrive. The white wines, made from Vermentino, exhibit a salinity typical of plots exposed to the mistral wind blowing from the breakwater; they are also distinguished by their delicacy and a natural acidity that makes them suitable for aging. Among the red wines, Carignano reigns supreme. This grape variety exhibits excellent resistance to salty winds and spring mists, making it ideal for cultivation along the coast. Its resistance to phylloxera is remarkable, allowing for “ungrafted” cultivation, particularly in the Seimura Rosso cuvée. Finally, a word about the harvest, which is carried out by hand, ensuring a rigorous selection of the grapes. This attention to detail, combined with a carefully preserved terroir, is the key to the estate’s success. The wines produced here are distinguished by their freshness, their aging potential, and their authentic reflection of the unique character of the Sulcis region.
