Nikka Coffey Malt is made using a unique manufacturing process. It is made entirely from barley malted in the 'Coffey' stills that are normally used to make Nikka grain whisky. The result is a rich, woody Coffey malt that surprises with its unique mouthfeel.

Nikka has two Coffey stills (named after its inventor Aeneas Coffey) at the Miyagikyo distillery. Imported from Scotland in 1963, these old stills produce a distillate with extra richness and complexity compared to modern column stills, and define the distinct character of the house blends. These two unique bottlings demonstrate Nikka's spirit of innovation.
