Viticulture

In 2006, the Mas was reborn. Three winegrowers combined their experience and took up the challenge of saving the property, located in the far east of the Pyrenees. The Mediterranean climate is violent and harsh. At an altitude of 250 metres, the mountainous environment helps to reduce the heat. As for the soils, the predominance of schist reinforces the feeling of coolness and the thin soils limit the production of each of the plots.

Oenology

Since the 14th century, Mas Cristine has built its reputation on Rivesaltes Ambré, the flagship of Roussillon’s sweet wines. The Coume del Mas vineyards are rooted in brown and black schist soils that are highly well-drained, accumulating heat during the day and releasing it at night. The grapes are harvested by hand, and fermentation is halted by fortification. The wine is then aged for an extended period in an oxidative environment, in large oak casks or demijohns exposed to the sun, developing its amber color and complex aromas.
